This course is aimed at teachers who are interested in teaching their courses in English and have a C1 level of English. IMPORTANT: In order to be accepted to the course, you must have completed the evaluation process (application form, essay, and interview, see the links below).

This course supports the university´s internationalization strategies. One of the strategies that the Internationalization Office proposes is to increase the number of undergraduate courses offered in English. In this way, home students benefit from having classes in their disciplinary area given in English and at the same time there is a broader offer of courses for international exchange students. Participating in classes with exchange students provides an internationalization at home experience for our students.
- Understand the role of English as a lingua franca in an EMI context.
- Identify the differences between a class in the student’s first language and one in a foreign language.
- Develop pedagogical strategies to address these differences.
- Integrate activities and best practices into their current teaching context.
- Design didactic sequences for an EMI context providing the appropriate scaffolding to support students’ learning process.

During the course, participants will work on a variety of activity types and modes of interaction:
- Community-building activities
- Reflection, analysis and feedback activities with peers
- Online activities
- Reading and discussion of relevant literature
- Written reflection
Participants must submit the following products:
- Post-session reflective journals (6)
- Classroom language list
- Design and implementation of a didactic sequence
- Peer feedback form
At the end of the course, participants will receive a certificate of participation. To qualify for the certificate, participants must:
- attend 80% of the sessions.
- have participated actively in the course.
- have submitted the required products.

This is a 30-hour course consisting of six 4-hour sessions* and 6 hours of independent work (including collaborative group work).
*The sessions will be via videoconference with a variety of activities during these four hours (working individually, in pairs, and in groups).
The schedule will be: Wednesday 4.00-8.00 pm, March 13th to April 24th (six weeks)
